How to use gematria numbers

Gematria is an ancient system of assigning numerical values to words and letters, originally used by the Jews as a part of Kabbalistic tradition. It has been used to give hidden meanings and insight behind sacred texts, particularly in the Hebrew Bible. gematria numbers have also been used to uncover numerical patterns in people's names, as well as to make sense of stories from our ancient past.

Thankfully, it is now possible to use modern tools to calculate gematria numbers quickly and accurately. Understanding how to do this could offer spiritual and practical insights into your life and those around you.

To begin calculating gematria numbers you simply need a calculator or an online gematria calculator such as Jewish Gematria Calculator. Simply type in the word or name you would like to find the gematria number for, click "calculate" and the calculator will generate the gematria number for your desired word or name.

If using a calculator, add up all of the numerical values associated with each letter in the Hebrew alphabet: Aleph is 1; Bet is 2; Gimmel is 3; Dalet is 4; etc., until Tav which is 400. If a letter appears in the word or name twice (as often happens with Hebrew names), then add its numerical value twice. For example, if a word contains two kaphs then it would be added in twice (once as 20, then again 20 –which equals 40). Repeat this process until all letters are tallied up into one total - these give you your final Gematria Number!

Once you've obtained your desired Gematria Number, there are many ways to make sense of it. Research what other words have similar Gematrai Numbers - looking at these words could offer clues on what your chosen number might signify for you personally or generally speaking. There are also dozens of books that explain how various early Holy texts interpreted Gematria Numbers - they offer further insight into possible meanings behind specific numbers.
